Rainford Models have worked with both small, independent toy designers and major toy companies & manufacturers providing prototype toys and engineering assistance.
As can be seen from the images below we have the ability to make toy prototypes with a high level of details such as tread on tyres and wheel nuts.
As well as being suitable for product development, our prototypes can be used by the product development and marketing teams as a valuable part of the process of bringing a new toy to the market by, for example, enabling samples to be shown to focus groups before full scale production is started.
Our skills enable a rapid repsonse to requests for prototypes of a wide range of toys, please contact us for more details.
We have listed below just a small sample of the prototype toy models that Rainford have produced in the past few years.

Arctic Exploration Mega Rig.
This prototype toy was all hand facricated from acrylic or styrene sheet.
The complex tracked vehicle had a motor battery pack on the back which powered the vehicle along, but also was removable and would plug into and power other numerous features throughout the model.
The submarine broke down in to various sections to form a host of different play areas

Arctic Exploration Mega Rig.
A close up detailed view of the un-painted lead tracked vehicle.
All parts have been fabricated by Rainford Models except for the tracks, which were taken from an existing tracked vehicle, modified to suit our needs, then vaccum cast in a simulated rubberised resin.

Although all the prototypw toys above have been aimed at boys we also make prototypes of girls toys.
This model was a modular system of single pods and double pods which all had to interlock with each other. This model combined traditional model making with SLA technology.
Each pod opens up on a pivot to reveal internal play areas with individual pull out components for the miniature dolls.

This photo opens up a display of some of the vast range of Mega Rig prototype models we have made over many years.
Left to right in the photo that opens up are :-
-
Fire Rescue Set,
-
Space Exploration Set,
-
Construction Set (this became the best seller for Mattell)
-
Jungle Exploration,
-
Sea Rescue
-
Air Rescue.
From all these pictures it is difficult to fully appreciate the time, skill and degree of engineering tolerance that was required time and time again to achive what one of our other clients termed fit and function.
